corporate History
In June 2002 when Kimber went public, there were four active and promising properties in various stages of development in the Sierra Madre. Amongst them was the Monterde, an almost forgotten former underground mine which Kimber had acquired as a private company. Now, only five years later, Kimber’s Monterde property is emerging as one of the northern Sierra Madre’s premier gold and silver properties. The Company’s resource estimates show approximately 1.5 million gold equivalent ounces of Measured & Indicated and 0.4 million ounces of Inferred. To date, more than 160,000 metres of drilling (over 730 drill holes) have been completed on Monterde. This is a significant investment in what accounts for less than 5% of the total Monterde land package. In December 2006, the Company initiated a reconnaissance exploration program on the remainder of the Monterde property to identify additional exploration targets for drilling. Two new drill targets and numerous anomalous areas have been identified to date. A drill program is planned for Spring of 2008 on Monterde.
